Encounters With Authors

The second in our a series of talks by authors whose work spans various genres, to follow the successful visit by poet Jenny Joseph. The highly-regarded novelist CLARE MORRALL grew up in Lympstone, daughter of the late Neville and Heather Portman, but for has for many years lived in the Midlands, where she teaches music. She achieved sudden success with her first published novel, Astonishing Splashes of Colour, which reached the shortlist for the 2003 Booker Prize. Her second, Natural Flights of the Human Mind, appeared in 2006. Clare’s latest novel, The Language of Others, was published to acclaim in the spring of 2008.
